Don’t wait until your
book is printed to begin promoting.
Here are some tips on how to give yourself the edge as a self-published
author.
1. Create talk topics from book content. Fred and
Florence Littauer’s
book: Get A Life Without the Strife is a good example of preparing
book
content
to be used effectively.Let’s examine these subtopics: “What
Are My Emotional
Needs? How Do I Communicate? How Can I Check My Maturity? Do I Need to
Confront My
Mate?”
2. Write an article on the subtitle content, and
post
on a blog.
3. Do mini-workshops from your content subtitles at
Book Signings
4.
Increase your online presence
writing articles for sites like
www.authorsden.com, or a blog.
5. Create a website using services like
Vistaprint.com, or blogger.com
6. Direct sales. Create a 30-second intro to create
interest in buying
your book. Pre-sell using an order form. More about 30-second Intro (

7. Volunteer to speak at local events. A great
resource is your community
newspapers. Call up local event ads and ask if they are looking for a
speaker.
Before you do, at least have a topic relevant to the event.
8. Press Release. If you don’t know how to
prepare one, hire an online
service like www.prweb.com
9. Radio Show. Find radio shows related to your
topic, listen to a few
shows and think about what you could bring to the show to enhance the
audience
experience. Send them a query to be on their show. Locate some of these
shows
at www.blogtalkradio.com.
