Converting Content Into Web Traffic
by Azmi Adnan
Getting prospects to take notice of your content is a problem many
writers face today. Let's face it, most prospects just skim and scan
through articles at lightning speed to locate information. With endless
amount of information in cyberspace, readers have little time to read a
whole article, unless something pops out to catch their attention.
Use Specific Topics
Your content has to be specific to what your prospective readers are
looking for. If your target audience is vintage car enthusiasts, use
words such as 'vintage cars' or 'Ford T-Model' right in their eyeball
area without the need for them to scroll down the page. This will
engage your prospective readers and prevent them from leaving your
site. Check out popular keywords in that subject to get your site
ranked by the search engines.
Unlike reading a book or magazine, online readers have the option to
click onto something else in seconds. The short attention span and the
convenience of clicking to other pages is a big challenge for writers
like you. Ensure that your content has answers that address your
reader's needs and problems.
Creating Traffic
To generate traffic, place your content on authority sites. Most
articles that are placed in hundreds non-authority sites won't get
noticed or just disappear over time. The 80/20 rule applies here.
Eighty percent of your traffic is going to come from the handful of
high authority sites. To maximize even more, convert your content into
video and audio and place them on authority sites in their respective
categories.
Another great way of converting content into traffic is to compile all
your articles into an ebook. You can give away your ebook to your
opt-in list and allow your prospects to place their own links so that
it can go viral. Put the ebook in ebook sites in the relevant
categories to create even more buzz and traffic. When contents are
converted into a course in the form of an ebook, its creates more value
and gets passed around.
Utilize Social Networking Sites
With the popularity of Web 2.0, you can't go without using Twitter and
Facebook to market your content. With millions of users on these two
platforms, any writer can get serious traffic. As proof of how powerful
Twitter and Facebook are, they have been reported to be the platforms
used to challenge the ruling governments in the Middle East. With
millions of people having profiles in the two social networking sites,
the potential for your content to get noticed is huge.
The bottom line is, create good content that is specific to a
particular topic and ensure that it provides answers and solutions. Use
relevant and popular keywords that are visible both to the readers and
the search engine spiders. Submit your content to authority sites,
social networking sites and convert them to video and audio too.
Compile all your content into an ebook and pass them around. In time,
your effort will convert into traffic.
